Wise Latina woman and the Geico Caveman

We all aspire to be do something or to be like someone. Its sort of like a great chain of being, or rather being compared to somebody who can generally do stuff better than you. It's hardly racist stuff, and actually its demeaning in a way, since the person or entity you are comparing yourself to doesn't exactly return the favor of the comparison.

So the Judge Sotomayer comment about a wise Latina women having better decision making smarts than a white guy should be taken in context. After all, who among us living beings can make a better piece of toast?

"I would hope that a wise intelligent toaster oven with the richness of its built in temperature settings would more often than not make better toast than a caveman who can't even slice bread."

"I would hope that a caveman with the richness of his experience would more often than not make a better fire than a wise Latina woman who hasn't tasted barbeque."

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life."

"I would hope that a wise white male Astronaut with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion that a Hal 9000 computer who isn't alive."
